Artist Stages Crypto Protest In Front Of US SEC With “Rug Pull” Exhibit
Two years ago, controversial artist Nelson Saiers sparked a debate when he erected a massive inflatable rat outside the US Federal Reserve building in New York; now, the creator takes another jab at a US institution with a new crypto art exhibition.
Crypto Art Exhibition Takes Jab At Scams
According to a release shared with NewsBTC, a crypto art installation was placed in front of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This time, Nelson Saiers portrayed a street vendor offering “rug pulls.”
In this latest protest exhibition, Saiers highlighted the crypto-based scam where the team behind a project disappears, leaving their community behind and “holding the bag” for an initial investment. The exhibit aimed to showcase the “ease” of these illegal activities.
Moreover, by setting the crypto art exhibit in front of the SEC, the artist potentially tried to send a message to the regulator: “rug pulls” happened right in front of the institution, seemingly without consequence.
This is the latest, but far from the only art exhibition where Saiers takes a hit on the US SEC and other financial regulators. As mentioned, the artist set an inflatable Bitcoin rat at the Fed’s building in 2020 and 2018.
A few months later, as the crypto market was experiencing a bull run that took the price of Bitcoin into uncharted territory, Saiers called cheap on the Fed with his “Cheap Money is Out-of-Order.” During this exhibition, which saw the sculpture of the Wall Street Bull interfered with a Saiers-made sculpture, the artist criticized the inflationary measures adopted by the financial institution.
Based in New York, Saiers completed a Ph.D. in mathematics and is a former trading group manager for Deutsche Bank AG and Chief Investment Officer for Saiers Capital. In art, Saiers is known as the “Warhol of Wall Street.”
As of this writing, Bitcoin trades at ,200 with sideways movement across the board. The cryptocurrency has been unable to break above or below its current trading range and will likely continue this trajectory until late September.
At that time, macro-economic forces will likely come back into the picture, stirring volatility into the market. In particular, the spot Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) narrative, mainly in the hands of the SEC, is bound to influence the price of the number one crypto by market cap.

NFT Artist of the Year
Team VESA attended the annual world leading AI and Blockchain AIBC conference this past week and the collaboration that was initially sparked in 2018 received its
It was such a great moment to be awarded the NFT Artist of the Year award in front of so many dear friends and colleagues. I want to express my sincere gratitude for those who voted for me and came to talk after receiving it in various ways
I’ve been privileged, even if backed up by 15 years of building digital art, to be awarded many awards – yet this one felt very special due to so many familiar faces also doing tremendous things in this space being present

Winning such a prestigious award is a testament to the hard work and dedication to my craft over a sustained period of time, and a recognition of the unique and innovative contributions to the NFT space.
Overall, the whole event was an unforgettable couple days for me and team VESA – one that will inspire me to continue creating groundbreaking and impactful works of art.
It was for the November 2018 conference in Malta that we first built an artwork about Malta and crypto together with Eman back in the early days of crypto art. It was successfully auctioned for charity and we’ve been doing things together since.
Malta Origins
Work: The Magnificent Eight
Mixed media, 2018
The eight points in the cross of Malta upheld by the Nights Hospiteller refer to:
* To live in truth
* To have faith
* To repent of one’s sins
* To give proof of humility
* To love justice
* To be merciful
* To be sincere and wholehearted
* To endure persecution
There are still two re-paint canvas pieces available of this work, as it is yet to be minted as an NFT.

The fireside of Dr Marwan was eloquent as ever on the power of Dubai to include the international community.
The AIBC / Sigma 2023 conference at Festival Arena really brought it this year. All the way from the branding, flying Gary Vee colours in all their visual messaging and the event itself, the conference proved once again, why it ought to be considered one of the best in the space. As the last little bits of restrictions truly lifted, the venue was nicely full with crypto and Web3 enthusiasts, all looking to catch that tantalizing panel or visit their favourite booth.
VESA held a very visual keynote on the Ikigai-stage on the kickoff day, drawing his audience’s attention to the underlying technology that is NFTs. What art, especially the collectibles, have done so far is provide a great first use case, but the technology itself can lend itself to a whole host of other disciplines. Since 2018, VESA has been mentioning the need for a shake-up in the scientific peer-review process and in the area of charitable donations, both sectors that would greatly benefit from the transparent, objective stance a blockchain provides.
Congrats also James for the Jade City nomination. Good to see you as always!
On way to Maturity
Maturity, a cool head and education seems like the triad of investable assets right now. The memes are getting hectic between centralised and decentralized, OG crypto and the banking system. There is something special in a moment where the tried and true lessons boil to the surface and maturity seems a lot closer.

Original Bitcoin Wizard Artist Raises Nearly $150,000 in BTC via Lightning, Despite Criticism From Bitcoin Maximalists
On Monday, crypto proponent Udi Wertheimer shared a story on Twitter explaining how he and the Taproot Wizards helped an artist who created the original 2013 bitcoin wizard meme raise nearly 0,000 in bitcoin. While the minting and sale were successful, Wertheimer explained that bitcoin maximalists and the r/bitcoin moderator Bashco disliked it.
Artist Who Created the 2013 Bitcoin Wizard Meme Raises 0K in Bitcoin
With more than 150,000 Ordinal inscriptions on the Bitcoin blockchain, there’s no denying that people appreciate the concept, and demand for the technology continues. This week, Taproot Wizard and crypto advocate Udi Wertheimer told a story about how the creator of the original bitcoin wizard meme raised 6 BTC, or close to 0,000. Wertheimer explained how this past Saturday, he and the Taproot Wizards helped the meme’s creator, Mavensbot, issue and sell a collection of ordinal inscriptions to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his artwork.
“The proceeds – over 6 BTC in 3 hours! – went to support the artist,” Wertheimer tweeted. “The payments were mostly from NFT enjoyers, who downloaded a lightning wallet from [the Lightning Network extension Alby] for the first time in their lives, and made a [bitcoin] payment, all within the 3 hours of the limited sale.”
Wertheimer added that watching everything transpire made him really happy by simply using bitcoin (BTC) and the Lightning Network to support an artist. However, Wertheimer also noted that the bitcoin maximalist and r/bitcoin moderator Bashco disliked the inscription. “Bitcoin maxis hate us for it. And of course, they do,” Wertheimer insisted sharing a screenshot of Bashco’s commentary. The crypto advocate’s tweet also mentioned how Bashco is well known “for supporting extreme censorship” over at the subreddit r/bitcoin.
He said that maximalists and people like Bashco hate Ordinal inscriptions because they have decided that JPEGs are evil. “The high priests of the Bitcoin cult have spoken,” Wertheimer remarked. Despite people like Bashco and the group of individuals who call themselves maximalists, Wertheimer insists that most “Bitcoiners aren’t like this.” One individual said: “I don’t get it — bitcoin maxis want [bitcoin] to be the world currency, but you can’t buy JPEGs with it?”
Wertheimer stressed that real bitcoiners are “builders, explorers, researchers, and quite simply enjoyers” and added that bitcoin maxis “are a disease.” The crypto advocate ended his tweet by noting that he believes it’s time for Bitcoiners to heal. “It’s time to go back to the spirit of the 2013 Bitcoin wizard. Playfulness, experimentation, innovation. Not taking ourselves so goddamn seriously all the time. HAVING FUN, for Satoshi’s sake,” Wertheimer concluded.
What are your thoughts on the use of bitcoin to support artists through the sale of NFTs and Ordinal inscriptions, and how do you feel about the controversy surrounding bitcoin maximalists and their opposition to this type of artwork on the blockchain? How Jeremy Ryan Became The World’s Biggest NFT Artist on the BNB Chain
As more people familiarize themselves with NFTs and what they are, more artists have come on board. According to IntoTheBlock, there are more than 80,000 NFT collections, and this massive growth is not expected to stop anytime soon. NFTs started out as a form of digital art mainly used for entertainment purposes, but this has been changing. Now, utility NFTs are taking over the space as they offer privileges, rights, or rewards to holders.
That being said, Jeremy Ryan, also known as NFT Demon, has become the biggest NFT artist on the BNB Chain in terms of minted NFTs, collections created, and fully minted collections with 10,000 pieces or more. He has created six incredibly successful collections, including Cartel Punks, Bad Ass Doggos, and Gaming Shiba, and is now working on his latest one, Super Gremlin.
Jeremy’s success, however, was not exactly overnight. Jeremy was diagnosed with brain cancer and zero chances of surviving. His battle against cancer ended up being a medical miracle and not only did he survive, but his life and passions took a complete turn. Before his diagnosis, Jeremy was never into art and had no artistic abilities. However, according to science and due to the nature of neuroplasticity, he was able to develop a passion for art that led to creating unique digital art.
Jeremy is now known as NFT Demon and, as his name implies, creating NFTs has become his latest passion. After just one month in the space, he became the biggest NFT artist on the BNB chain. His work has extended to millions of people, including famous rapper Eminem who owns NFTs from three of his collections
Many could say that Jeremy’s success stems from his unique style of art that resonates with many artists inside and outside the NFT world. Thousands of collections exist across multiple chains, which is why standing out and differentiating themselves in such a saturated market is of extreme importance. Jeremy made sure to do this in an appealing and relatable way by making his NFTs not only attention-grabbing but also by adding utility to his NFTs. Holders of some of his collections have the opportunity to network and give back to charitable causes, which leads us to his latest collection.
NFT Demon will be launching his first NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain called Super Gremlin. This collection will focus on bringing awareness to cancer in the Web3 community and will donate a portion of the sales to Brain Cancer Awareness month. There will also be other benefits to those who hold their NFT for a period of time, such as exclusive access to special events in the metaverse and special NFT offers.
Jeremy Ryan is a prime example of how the most unexpected things can turn your life around and open unimaginable possibilities. He was told he had no possibility of surviving and now he is the world’s biggest NFT artist on the BNB Chain.
Greek Artist Sends Pro-Freedom Message with Assange NFT Drop
Esteemed artist Miltos Manetas will tokenise 50% of his Julian Assange portraits, with the goal of raising awareness for the imprisoned activist. To further cement the blockchain connection, proceeds of the NFT drop will enter a DAO that forms part of the Venice Biennale Festival’s Internet Pavilion, a tech tent founded by Manetas in 2009.
Named This Cannot Be Erased, the special collection of 111 NFTs will grant buyers access to one-of-one digital versions of hand-painted portraits created by Manetas over the last two years. The collection will be divided into three phases during which 37 tokens are to be minted on the Materia blockchain, starting June 23.
This year’s Venice Biennale, now in its 59th year, runs from April 23 to November 27. While the majority of tents at the festival are reserved for countries, the Internet Pavilion is dedicated to Assange under the theme “AIIA – Assange is Internet Internet is Assange.”
Manetas Aims to Leverage #AssangePower
This Cannot Be Erased was produced by Manetas with support from long-time collaborator Howie B, a British composer who scored the original Internet Pavilion event thirteen years ago. Back then, Manetas and curator Jan Aman stirred controversy by inviting a number of people involved with activist website The Pirate Bay to Venice to inaugurate the Embassy of Piracy.
The latest collection develops Manetas’ interest in freedom in the internet age, with the artist having continually voiced his support for a man he regards as a close friend. The painter, whose digital works have previously appeared on VR platform Second Life, likens the silencing of the WikiLeaks founder to governments attempts to crush dissent on the World Wide Web, leading to the aforementioned theme for this year’s Internet Pavilion: Assange is Internet Internet is Assange.
The 111 NFTs in the collection are curated digital versions of the Assange portraits the artist created as part of the #AssangePower social media campaign. That blitz led Manetas to showcase his creations at Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni and later Belgium’s IKOB Museum with an exhibition entitled Assange Situation – Emergency.
This year, the location of the Internet Pavilion is the vast, prison-like domain of The Gervasuti Foundation, which Manetas considers an appropriate setting given Assange’s ongoing incarceration. The Foundation is located at the north end of Via Garibaldi, on the site of the Gervasuti family artisan wood workshop.
Holders of This Cannot Be Erased will not only own a piece of art history; they’ll also become Trustees of AIIA, with the NFT designated a “currency” of a new internet “country” unbound by borders or barriers. As mentioned, money raised from the sale will go into the Internet Pavilion DAO, meaning art collectors can help decide which art projects the Pavilion funds in the future.
Assange in Limbo
Miltos Manetas has said that his goal is to raise awareness of Assange’s treatment, believing that he has been unjustly demonised for his whistleblowing activities. This view is echoed by human rights organisation Amnesty International, which calls the UK’s decision to extradite Assange to the US a “travesty of justice.”
NFT that make up the new collection last for a minute, during which time the holder sees the face of Assange, fracturing before rapidly coming back together, never to erase. Each artwork is accompanied by a musical theme composed by Howie B.
Assange is currently appealing the UK government’s extradition ruling. If the appeal fails, the activist could face a 175-year prison sentence if convicted in a US court.
Former Bored Ape Yacht Club Artist Enhances Sneaky Vampires Syndicate Utility And Inclusion Through Second Collection
Competition continues to heat up in the NFT space, yet very few collections provide long-term utility. However, Sneaky Vampire Syndicate’s team is preparing to launch the Sneaky Vampiress collection, which is integral to the project’s future. Moreover, the new collection pays homage to the many female MFT artists who remain undervalued in this industry.
The Success of Sneaky Vampires Syndicate
Thousands of NFT collections have come to market over the past year and a half. Some are more successful than others, yet success comes in different forms. A high overall trading volume is often a good indicator. However, collections also need to offer long-term utility to remain relevant, which is much harder to come by. Sneaky Vampires Syndicate is one of the few collections checking both boxes.
Thanks to over 21,700 ETH in total trading volume, SVS is one of only 63 NFT collections to date capable of surpassing 21,000 ETH in sales. That is remarkable, given the sheer amount of NFT collections being created every week. Moreover, the collection of 8.888 male vampires notes over 1,400 holders, confirming a strong interest in what this collection provides. Furthermore, the team recently achieved strong real-world utility coinciding with the new Scream movie release.
To expand the utility of Sneaky Vampires Syndicate, the team will launch a secondary collection. Like the male vampires, the Sneaky Vampiresses are created by former BAYC artist Mig. Moreover, the choice for female vampires makes sense, as SVS aims to bring attention to the female enthusiasts in this industry. Both collectors and artists can see the appeal of Sneaky Vampiresses, a collection that will potentially improve the appeal of non-fungible tokens.
Promoting female inclusion and representation is essential in a male-drive industry. Gender should not be a barrier to empowerment through decentralization. Additionally, the easy-to-understand nature of Sneaky Vampire Syndicate makes it a powerful candidate to attract other genders to the NFT industry. More importantly, it may spark a wave of enthusiasm among artists to explore what this technology is all about.
Sneaky Vampiresses Enhance Utility
Although the ambition to promote female NFT artists and enthusiasts is worthwhile, the new collection has a secondary purpose. Matching male and female vampires introduces the breeding system, dubbed “Blood Pact”. Holders of both NFT types can engage in the minting of Gen-2 vampires, which will unlock an expansion of the Sneaky Vampire Syndicate Metaverse and its utility. Minting Gen-2 vampires requires $BLOOD tokens earned from staking SVS NFTs.
The Sneaky Vampiress collection will also feature eight unique 1-of-1 non-fungible tokens. Eight individual female artists draw these eight unique renditions, adding a certain appeal to the collection. Even though there are more Vampiresses (12,345) than initial Sneaky Vampire Syndicate NFTs (8,888), there are many opportunities. Existing SVS holders all gain minting access at a 1:1 ratio based on NFT holdings. The rest of the Vampiresses will be minted by large and female-led communities and public minting participants.
Sneaky Vampire Syndicate Project lead Thomas Kekker adds:
“The Genesis SVS NFTs were a huge success, and we’ve not let our foot off the gas. From the very beginning, we built this around nurturing our community and creating the best possible environment. We believe the release of the Vampiresses will continue the growth of our ecosystem in the right direction.”
Whitelisted users can access the Sneaky Vampiress pre-sale between February 21, 3 pm ET, and February 22, 3 pm ET. Public minting will begin on February 22, 4 pm ET, until all NFTs are minted or the campaign ends on February 28. All Sneaky Vampiresses will be revealed on that day after the minting process ends. Holders of Genesis SVS NFTs can achieve a minting discount of up to 50% if they own enough $BLOOD tokens.
3D NFT Artist Gal Yosef And Eden Gallery Launch The Meta Eagle Club Collection
The involvement of the internationally acclaimed Eden Gallery in Gal Yosef’s Meta Eagle Club adds a new dimension to NFTs. Meta Eagle Club will feature an evolving artistic vision, exclusive physical gallery events, upscale art, and strong community building.
Non-fungible tokens represent a multi-billion dollar industry, yet it is constantly evolving and growing. The upcoming Meta Eagle Club NFT collection illustrates there is still much more to achieve in this industry. Supporting NFT collectors by providing them with physical artwork through Edgen Gallery and its groundbreaking NFT studio RNSNC are just some examples of how NFTs can gain utility.
Gal Yosef, world-renowned for his 3D artworks, has a long-term vision for this upcoming collection. Gal is also the Crypto Bulls Society collection artist, which sold out immediately and has yielded over million in sales to date. Moreover, he has worked alongside A-listers, including Justin Bieber and DJ Steve Aoki.
All of that hard work has elevated Gal Yosef to a role model in 3D NFT art. His works always feature incredible detail and life-like cartoon avatars. The NFT industry needs to benefit from highlighting accredited artists, as they are the ones who can take non-fungible tokens into the mainstream.
With the help of Eden Gallery, Gal Yosef’s Meta Eagle Club will become the first installment of a series of his own collections. Those collections will all be part of the Galyverse, a digital art world. Meta Eagle Club will feature 12,000 captivating eagle avatars.
Gal Yosef explains his choice for using eagles in this collection:
“I was searching for a character that could help portray a charismatic avatar, but also one that’s warm and inspiring to others. Depicted as a symbol of freedom in so many different cultures, Eagles, out of the entire animal kingdom, also represent the strong and brave-hearted. Working on the wings and feathers allowed me to soar and explore new heights in 3D art.”
Cultivating an environment combining community building and upscale art is the primary purpose of Meta Eagle Club. Eagle avatar owners will access physical artwork through Eden Gallery and its NFT studio RNSNC. Additionally, NFT holders will also benefit from VIP flights around the world and additional aviation-related experiences.
The Meta Eagle Club NFT sale event is coming soon. For upcoming whitelistings and event timelines, check out the Official Galyverse Website, Galyverse Discord channel, Instagram, and Twitter.
